Creating Papers Basic Tutorials

Easy Plaid Paper

This is a very basic tutorial for creating plaid paper. It is also a good tutorial for learning about the basic tools and different layer options.

No plugins needed

I am using Corel Paintshop Pro x4 but the steps should be similar in any of the programs.

Step1: After you have opened your program set the perimeters for the paper.

Step 2: Using your selection tool create a rectangle. Then using the paint bucket flood fill the selection with a color of choice.

Using the same steps create a new smaller rectangle onto a new layer.

Step 3: Adjust that layer to fit appropriately however you like. The Merge visible or merge down to create one layer.

Step 4: Right click on the stripes it doesn't matter where or which one select duplicate (make sure your using the arrow tool) move the new layer right continue to do this until the page is full.

Merge Visible to create one layer of stripes. Adjust until they are pretty close to centered.

Step 6: Now right click either on the stripes or on the layer in the layer palette duplicate and the rotate the new layer 90 degrees.

Step 7: Play around with the layer properties and the opacity on the top layer so that the sets of stripes are not identical.

Step 8: Create a new raster layer. Flood fill with a new color.

Step 9: Would be to add textures before you save but we will go over that in a separate tutorial. Here you and save the completed image for a finished plaid paper.

Enjoy!!
